The family received the news on Monday afternoon with a prison call: Penitentiary institutions of Spain have transferred the prisoner of La Antigua to the prison of Estremera (Madrid), 500 kilometres from his house. After being released last Friday from Zaballa prison (Vitoria-Gasteiz), his lawyer and his family several times called the jail to ask for information, without receiving any news.

With the aim of denouncing the case of Enparatza and the policy of distancing from the Spanish Government, several citizens concentrated on Monday in Plaza Gaskonia del Antiguo to denounce the policy of distancing under the motto Euskal Presoak Euskal Herrira.

Maider Alustiza, the couple of Enparantza, explained that what relatives have suffered was "unbearable" and "cruel". However, he has denounced that what has happened is not new, but is a procedure that is "systematically" followed when transferring prisoners from one prison to another: “We, like the family, have suffered this on several occasions, as thousands of families have suffered over the years.”

In addition, Alustiza stressed that the transfer meant that the mother of Enparantza had lost her visit and that from now on the relatives will have to travel many more kilometres to visit the prisoner, with the risks and expenses that this entails.
