Stop the cruelty! the platform reported on Friday that Galder Barbado and Aitor Zelaia have received the arrest warrant.

Faced with this decision, the agents convened concentrations and visited Vitoria-Gasteiz, Agurain and Amurrio this afternoon. In particular, in the municipality of Aiaralde, hundreds of people have gathered in Plaza Juan de Urrutia to denounce the repression of two independence activists, who will have to serve four years in prison.

The platform also recalls that until the national demonstration in Vitoria-Gasteiz (30 September at 18:30 from Artium) will multiply the solidarity gestures from people to people. Citizens are invited to participate in them by purchasing a t-shirt that denounces the situation of Barbado and Zelaia or participation in auzolanes and events. In this sense, they say that the shirts are for sale at the bar Txokogorri de Amurrio and that on Thursday there will be a working day in the gaztetxe of the town from 18:00 hours.

The platform has also stressed that the process against Galder Barbado and Aitor Zelaia has been absolutely political and will be punished for being Basque militants. However, they undertake to continue working for "Euskal Herria to advance".

Final decision in May

The four prison sentences against two young people were ratified in May. Appeals from the judgments reached the Supreme Court a month earlier, after two years of waiting. The defence called for the acquittal of the two youths. The Prosecutor ' s Office, for its part, requested the Supreme Court to apply the eight-year application for a prison sentence of origin. This institution, for its part, decided to ratify the four-year prison sentence imposed by the National Court, but so far it has not sent any prison order.

Four-year process

The judicial procedure started in 2019 ended. On 7 February of the same year, Barbado and Zelaia were arrested on charges of keeping a drum with "explosive materials" for "terrorist purposes". They spent almost six months in pre-trial detention and were tried before the National Court in January 2021.
