They accuse the Basque Government of signing an agreement against the educational agreement with Google
  • In March, the Basque Government signed an agreement with Google for four years, “totally contrary to ethical digitalisation, responsible and euskaldun” contained in the text of the educational agreement.

The digitisation of schools will be carried out respecting the digital rights and privacy of students and using auditable, reusable, free and transparent technological means, according to the agreement reached between PNV, EH Bildu, PSE and Elkarrekin Bah-IU. A few days later, Librezal criticized that the collaboration that the Basque Government has established with Google for four years goes in a different direction: it has been agreed to use Google Workspace for Education services in public centres.

The platform has recalled that Google is among the countries most punished for having infringed the European General Data Protection Regulation and has stressed that the multinational can make whatever changes it wants in the processing of data, according to the agreement. “Data from all students and teachers are provided to private multinational Google for four years in exchange for their services.”

When several countries are on track to "limit Google's abuses," the platform has called this agreement "an indicator of an innocent attitude." The German Government, for example, banned the use of Google fogs in education in 2019. “In our case, the arms are open,” they received Google.

What do the impulsive parties say about the educational agreement?

The platform has put the ball in the hands of parties that have agreed to the educational agreement: “It is to be hoped that the parties that have participated in the law-making process will channel strong demands to suspend collaboration with Google.”
