The Basque Government establishes minimum services of 100% in the centres of the elderly, prohibiting the right to strike today
  • The unions LAB and ELA, for their part, have called for a strike on 6 February in the residences of Gipuzkoa. These two trade unions have denounced that the Basque Government has established minimum services of 100%, and therefore denied the right to strike to more than 5,000 workers. They have called for fighting and for participation in the demonstration to be held on the day of the strike at 11:00 in Gipuzkoa Square.

Idoia Mendia, who has just declared office, argues that the strike clashes with the other rights and sets minimum services of 100% in the Basque Country. The LAB union responds: "The current privacy model is the only one that clashes with the rest of the fundamental rights of citizenship. In particular, it is the only one that conflicts with the right of people in situations of dependency and the right of users of nursing homes to receive a quality service and with the right of working people to provide a service in decent conditions and without risk to their health".

The ELA trade union states that: "If the Deputy, the companies or the Basque Government were really concerned about their responsibility, the minimum services would be 200%, but not on the strike day, but throughout the year." It has denounced that it is "outrageous" that "public institutions are subject to the interests of private companies in all their forms".
