The Feminist Self-Defense Course will be held on Tuesday 20, and a documentary on the 30 years of the Auzoenea will be screened on Wednesday 21. On Thursday at 18:30 hours the Auzogunea will open. In addition, throughout the week you will be able to see in Matalaz a photo exhibition about the popular movement in the neighborhood.

After two years of forced stop, the festivities of San Fermín Txiki will return to the streets of the Casco Viejo de Pamplona, from 23 to 25 September, with a program of activities “popular, simple, Basque, egalitarian and integrative”. This has been announced by the Committee on Festivities of the Old Town.

Three days of party

On Friday, September 27, the rocket will be launched from the Plaza de los Corazonista at 12:30 by the hand of the small corporation. With this act they will start three days of party. This morning there will be activities for the youngest, swollen in the Auzogunea or pasacalles of small giants and tickling through the streets of the neighborhood. To take strength, there will be a popular meal and a lunch of young people in the Auzogunea. In the afternoon, from 17:00 hours, the comparison of giants and kilikis of the Casco Viejo will travel the streets of the neighborhood and the Txikis will play the final of the ball championship in the pediment of Baños de Ebro. In the afternoon there will be more activities for the younger and older, and at sunset the neighbors will take the tables out to the street to enjoy the self-managed dinners. In the evening, at 22:30 hours, a great bingo will take place in Nabarreria Square, with concerts and musical performances to complete the first day of the party.

On Saturday the festival will begin with targets and street lunches, and at 11:00 the comparison of Casco Viejo giants from Plazara will begin!. Throughout the morning several groups will bring music and dance to the street. At noon, in the Plaza de Santa Ana you will be able to prepare calderetes and participate in the popular meals that have been organized both in the Auzogunea and in the different streets. The festivities will advance with music, sports activities and activities for the youngest, while at night there will be music in the Auzogunea and in the bars and other spaces of the Casco Viejo. Those who want to get away from the noisiest environment will also be able to do so. In Plaza San José, the Zaporea association will install the “Txoko del Refugee”, which will tell children’s stories at 13:00 in the communal garden Piparrika. In the Saturday program we must highlight the fact that this year, after 39 editions, the Cross of the Elderly will not be celebrated: for four decades there have been many changes in the life of the neighborhood and it is time to dismiss this endearing activity that is part of the history of the Casco Viejo.

The festivities will continue on Sunday morning with the craft fair that will be installed in Plaza San José. The procession of San Fermín de Aldapa will travel the streets of the neighborhood and there will be a jota festival in the Plaza de Nabarreria. In the afternoon you will be able to enjoy the comparison of giants and kilikis from the Old Party from Plazara! At 19:00 there will be a concentration of wheeled heifers on the hill of Santo Domingo. At 20:00 the third lockdown will begin from the Place of the Hunters and the last fire at 20:30.

In auzolan and with respect

The Festival Commission of the Casco Viejo has organized the festivities of the neighborhood “self-financing” with the collaboration of different agents, neighbors, merchants and bars, and the collaboration of the City of Pamplona “with less and less”.

Aware that they are festivities that attract many people to the Casco Viejo, in order to alleviate the anxiety that awakens in the neighbors, the Festival Commission has once again wagered on the Barrio. As in previous years, it will be located in the orchards of Santo Domingo, with the objective of alleviating the inhabited areas of the neighborhood. In addition, the Fiestas Commission wishes to emphasize the importance of respecting the portals of households and residents, calling for the use of public toilets that will be installed for the festivities. These toilets, by the way, have had to be paid by the Festival Commission itself, after the City Council refused to meet this expenditure.

Likewise, in the festivities of St. Fermín Txiki, no kind of chauvinist or homophobic attitude or any kind of aggression against any person or group will be admitted. The Fiestas Commission, along with the feminist movement and the neighbors, has developed a response protocol, and within the program a feminist self-defense workshop has been organized on September 20, as well as collective transfers from the neighborhood, on Friday and Saturday nights.

The Committee of Festivities calls on the neighbours of the Casco Viejo to participate both in the assembly of the Auzogunea (Wednesday 21 September) and in the dismantling (Sunday 25 September).
