Most Getxo political groups sign an agreement for the rights of the Izadi child
  • On June 4, the political parties PNV, EH Bildu, Elkarrekin Podemos and PSE-EE of Getxo signed a declaration claiming the rights of the child Izadi Lizarraga Gutiérrez. Izadi is the two-year-old daughter of Basque prisoners Iñigo Gutiérrez and Maria Lizarraga of Getxo, who live and are born in prison. The prisoner currently lives with his parents in Aranjuez's prison, but when he turns three he will leave on the day of his birthday to Izadi Street, moving away from his parents 480 kilometres away, according to the signatories.

In a statement signed on 4 June by the four political parties in Getxo, they expressed their concern about the situation of the Izadi child and called for the right to be with their parents to be guaranteed and, as far as possible, to be able to live with them "without being separated from their family environment".

In addition, the four political groups have asked the penitentiary institutions to take the best measures to ensure the rights of the child, "so that they may be in contact with their parents and their family environment, and thus be able to transfer them to the prisons of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country". For this purpose, they shall refer the agreement to the Secretary-General of Penitentiary Institutions of the National High Court and the Court of Penitentiary Surveillance, on the grounds of their jurisdiction and guardianship.
