According to the Electronic Intifada media, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called for a general ceasefire to halt the spread of the pandemic. Shortly afterwards, Israel killed two Palestinians, one of them a child, and since then their attacks have only increased, according to sources.

"Israel has resisted military attacks in the West Bank, has carried out extensive arrests and administrative detentions, has allowed settlers to increase the level of violence and have broken the violent blockade of the Gaza Strip," said Palestinian rights organization Al Haq.

During the last two weeks of March, settlers’ attacks on the Palestinians have increased by 78%, according to the UN OCHA Observatory. During this time, there have been "at least 16 attacks by Israeli settlers, in which five Palestinians have been injured and there have been significant damage to property," OCHA said.

Palestinian National Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyehk ordered a two-week lockdown for all Palestinians in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem), but during that time his decision did not affect the more than 800,000 Israelis living in illegal colonies. These settlers share with the Palestinians roads, grocery stores and gas stations, which are often subjected to insults, physical attacks and damage to property.
