They show that Israel follows a pattern to kill Palestinian journalists
  • The Committee for the Protection of Journalists in the Gaza Strip has estimated 103 deaths by Zionists since 7 October and more than 150 deaths. A report warns that in some cases they were intentioned, knowing that they were journalists, although nothing is known.

Gauze has become the most dangerous place for journalists in nine months. The investigation group Forbidden Stories has published a report prepared by 50 journalists from thirteen media, in which they claim that the Zionist army repeats in its activity the “patron” to kill journalists. The Committee for the Protection of Journalists has received 103 fatalities, but more than 150, according to the Ministry of Health of the Gaza Strip. The fourth Geneva Convention states that the attack on journalists who do not participate in the struggle or their own teams violates international law. Israel itself and 195 other countries have signed this agreement, amounting to a total of EUR 24 billion.

In a study by the Forbidden Stories group, Gaza has described as "record" the number of journalists killed in recent months, overcoming other armed conflicts worldwide. At least 18 journalists have been killed or injured by alleged drone strikes by Zionists, four of them wearing press vests. The investigation indicates that, although they could be identified as journalists, they were attacked by the Israeli Army, although they were arrested. The bombs of the Zionists killed 40 media workers when they were in their own homes, and another 40 were dedicated to groups classified by Israel as "media for Palestinian resistance". Israel has destroyed six buildings serving as media workplaces, according to the report. In the research, entitled Gaza project, they have denounced that this is a "terrible pattern."

According to Laurent Richard, founder and journalist of the Forbidden Stories investigative group, “journalists who survive in Gaza have long known that press vests do not protect them. What’s more, it can put protective equipment at greater risk.” The investigative group has warned that journalists are “witnesses of history” and that their presence can prevent war crimes from spreading with impunity. They have also stated that the work of journalists is essential to know what is happening in the conflict, beyond the propaganda disseminated.

Does AI have journalists about to go?

The Forbidden Stories investigation has revealed that the possibility of Lavender committing some of these killings via artificial intelligence is one of the options. The purpose of this system is to select those at the point of attack and can take into account different characteristics. This has raised doubts as to whether Lavender confuses journalists with Palestinian resistance fighters or whether he deliberately takes them as military targets. An Israeli source explained that “a journalist may be or communicate with a Hamas WhatsApp group,” so “it makes sense” for Lavender to identify him as a HAMAS militant.
