On February 17, 2005, the first issue of the Spanish Word was published. On Monday, taking advantage of the twentieth anniversary, we held an event at the San Telmo Museum with a large number of agents and people from the city. With our community.

Xalba Ramírez and Andrea Bosch from Palabra de Irutxulo presented the event, which was attended by the Mayor of San Sebastián, Eneko Goia, and the representative of the Association of Basque Language Learners, DreamIbero Bagera. Both of them stressed the importance of telling the present of our city in Basque, and in the future, if we are going to build the city of Basque, they have proclaimed that this will come through the path of the Word of Irutxulo.

Beñat Parra, Director of La Palabra de Irutxulo, took the opportunity to present this year’s campaign: The whole world is local. He proclaimed the distinctive roles and tasks of local journalism: the rise of the chronicle of the time from below and the creation of a new tale of San Sebastian. “For a San Sebastian where many Donostia-San Sebastián are born”, Parra declared that we will continue working.

Finally, there was an interesting round table led by journalist Inaxio Esnaola with the bodybuilders Aizpea Goenaga, Beñat Gaztelumendi and Sua Enparantza. From different generations, they made a chronicle of the last twenty years of the city, highlighting the role of the Word of Irutxulo.
