Migrants continue to give strong testimonies: the police excesses suffered during the journey, institutional racism, the thousands of euros paid to human traffickers, because they are denied safe and legal ways that force them to put their lives at risk. The result is a permanent risk situation, especially for children under 18 and women with a high risk of hijacking by buying and selling networks.
From the Irun Reception Network, they have pointed out that public institutions have an obligation to improve the signage of access to places destined in the city to care for migrants. In fact, the signaling that the Irun Reception Network performed in its day in a precarious way is the only reference that migrants can find at the moment in the streets of the city. Members of the Irun Reception Network have pointed out that improving signage can be a way of preventing a senseless public resource from being wasted.
The Irun Reception Network continues to work to respond to the needs arising from the constant arrival of migrants. In this regard, on 22 January the Irun Reception Network warned of the need to collect winter clothing for men. As indicated in the message delivered by the host network, in terms of clothing, the main needs of the network at the moment are as follows: Jackets size S/M, winter shoes for men between 40 and 43, gloves, leggings, trousers and backpacks for children size S.
Citizens who want to contribute their bit to the work of the network can deposit their clothes in the place located on the 14th of Calle Mayor. The clothing collection service will remain open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00 to 19:00 hours.
