The manifesto for the parity of Alarde in Irun is launched
  • More than 500 women from the Basque Country have signed a letter in support of their equal Irún Alarde. “Most of the festive celebrations around us have gradually adapted to the new times, but today in Irún, and in a supposed normality, two celebrations continue.”

They have insisted that one of these displays is private, “traditional and exclusive”, while the other “seeks to include all citizens, a display in which both women and men have the same role in equality”. In Irún and Hondarribia it is recalled that it has been “twenty long years” since the women asked to have another role in the festivities.

"This is not a local problem that is not understood from the outside"

Thus, and denouncing that women are subjected to many persecutions under the pretext of tradition, the citizens are invited to go to Irun on 30 June to support the equal partnership and to defend equality between women and men. “This is not a local problem that is not understood from the outside, as they want us to believe, and we cannot wait another two decades for it to be solved, waiting for a political decision.”

The lawyers of Juana Arangu, the judge Garbñe Biurruti, the musician Anari Alberdi, the writers Toti Martínez de Lezea, Karmele Nacimiento and/or Laura Seminario, the bertsolari Maialen Lujanbio, Maddalen Iriarte (EH Reunidos), Rafaela Romero (PSE), Eukene Arana (Podemos Conjuntos), among others, are among the artists.
