In a statement, the Egalitarian Alarde Commission has expressed its "solidarity" with the victims of COVID-19 and their families and has thanked the health professionals who "have been on the front line" and "help us to meet our needs", according to the Berria newspaper.
"The strength of the Alarde that is not going to be celebrated this year is the strength of the citizens," they say in the statement. "But the inability to see us, to hug us, to parade by playing the whistle or the drum, we can turn it into courage and courage, so that our society, the Iron Curtain, leaves behind the divisions and is more united, more supportive and egalitarian."
For its part, the City of Irun has not yet taken any decision on the celebration of the Alarde de de San Juan. On 15 April, the San Marcial Alarde Command Board held an extraordinary meeting in which, among other things, it was agreed: "The only date proposed for the celebration of Alarde is 30 June, and if that day cannot be done because the health authorities indicate it, it will not be held another day."
