Milk producers protest against Carrefour in Pamplona
  • The Spanish State will grant a maximum aid of EUR 35,000 to each of the dairy cattle farms, which “is poisoned aid that will extend the agony of the sector”, according to EHNE.

In spring, as animals also have external food, EHNE says they will save on feed, but in October, "we can see the final bleeding of the sector." It says that aid is welcome, but that the food chain law is not yet being complied with. That all prices rise in supermarkets and milk too, but that that increase does not reach farmers.

Milk producers say that they continue to use milk in the competition of the department stores. It is observed that in yoghurt there are price differences of up to 30% between shops or 7 cents between white milk brands: -That does us a lot of damage.

"The white label doesn't help us."

They complain that white brands in department stores do not cover production costs: "White brands do not help our sector, it is more, they are responsible for making salaries equivalent to the Interprofessional Minimum Wage (SMI) in factories. We farmers are paying invoices to suppliers, taking money out of our pay."

And for the consumer, they've also had questions. "We are willing to pay for a pay-TV. Are we willing to pay for a next-generation cell phone, but are we willing to buy a liter of milk or four yoghurts at a fair price? Are you willing to pay 20 cents more per litre of milk, or 14 euros more per year? ".
