“A historic step forward”

Under pressure from the media and political right, Zabaleta has seen the strong socialist party and believes that we are facing a historic breakthrough: “The agreement is for Pamplona, but it has a political value that goes beyond Pamplona, which reflects that it is possible to articulate these progressive majorities in all the institutions, and that is good for those of us who live in Pamplona, for those of us who live in Navarra. It shows a path for the future.”

“Logical consequence of the road ahead”

According to the general coordinator of EH Bildu in Navarra, although the formation of the government of Pedro Sánchez accelerated the process, the “agreement between the PSN and EH Bildu is a logical consequence of the path that both forces were doing together”. This agreement has been valued very positively by the coordinator of EH Bildu in Navarra, who yesterday, in Euskalerria Irratia, Koldo Martínez said that if Geroa Bai were to join a possible agreement of this kind, he would have received a lot of wood. “It is logical to think that each one has to value what each one does and that Koldo referred to it. We believe that the agreement we have reached has great political value, because it allows levels of mutual understanding so far impossible.”

“New paths to Euskera have been opened”

Regarding language policy, Zabaleta added that what was agreed with the PSN opens up new avenues: “It is recognized that Euskera is, together with Spanish, a language of Pamplona that demands prejudice, promotion and development. In this sense, it offers great possibilities, and a welcome agreement that accepts the socio-linguistic reality of Pamplona, which until now has not been possible”.

“They don’t get a crispation picture”

He is also happy and proud because on December 28, the photo that some people were looking for was not seen. “They failed to get Joseba Asiron and the other progressive forces into this crispation, nor did they get that picture of the confrontation they sought so much. Joy was the one that prevailed above all, because Joseba Asirón became mayor of Pamplona, and joy was also achieved among all progressive forces the agreement that society demanded.”
