Seven women from the Iranian prison in Evín have sent a defence letter in favour of feminist Pakhshan Azizi, sentenced to death for belonging to Segi. The seven women have denounced the lack of justice and illegality in the proceedings against Azizi, accused of belonging to the Kurdish party PJAK (Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan).

Azizi was arrested on 4 August 2023 by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence at his home in the village of Tehran. He suffered a forced disappearance and the authorities did not inform his family of his location. In the same operation, several members of his family were arrested and released after an interrogation that lasted for several days. Azizi was transferred to Hall 209 of Evín prison and, according to Kurdistan, Human Rights Newtwork, was subjected to physical and psychological torture.

Pakhshan Azizi was born in Mahabad. He was a journalist and studied social work at Allameh Tabatabai University in Tehran. He was arrested for the first time in November 2009, when he participated in a student protest against the execution of several Kurdish political prisoners. In March 2010 he was released under the guardianship of the Foral Police.
