In 1973, in Francoism, Jon Urzelai Imaz was arrested and imprisoned. He was from Beasain (Gipuzkoa) and a member of ETA. In July 1974 he managed to escape prison with the help of other colleagues and continued his militancy on the street.

On 11 September of the same year, the Civil Guard enters the bilbaíno district of Zorroza in its search. The police were in a house waiting for the Urzelai and when they arrived, they did so with bullets.

In his honor there has been a memory in Zorroza for almost two decades. At the moment the City of Bilbao (PNV) has decided to remove the monument following a request made by Covite. In 2021 the same group made a similar request.
