On 22 September, the Peacemakers reported that the Paris Call Hearing admitted the request for the defence of the conditional release of Basque prisoners Ion Parot and Jakes Esnal. And so on Thursday morning, political prisoner Ion Kepa Parot has left prison after 32 years of captivity. Etxerat stressed that "civil society in the Northern Basque Country has had a lot to do with the institutional and civic impetus for Parot's freedom". Despite the fact that defence lawyers have repeatedly claimed their freedom, the prosecutor’s office has obstructed him over and over again. In total, he has had to make six petitions until he has finally obtained the approval of the courts.

Parot was arrested in 1990, along with other robbers, on charges of belonging to the ETA Argala command. He was sentenced to life in prison, such as Jakes Esnal and Frederi, to Xistor Haranburu. In the case of Parot, to begin applying for conditional release of his option from the fifteenth year of imprisonment. Haranburu was released in November 2020, conditioned. It's going to take the days after the Esnal. Unai Parot, brother of Ion Kepa Parot, is the only one who will remain in prison of that sentence, as well as the last working prisoner.
