This summer a campaign has begun that has been repeated suspiciously, and today it is gaining strength in terms of speech and presence. I am referring to the inoculation of the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to certain population groups in enriched countries. "Extra dose," they say.

"My proposal is to provide third vaccination for people who have received two doses until the vaccination reaches the population of impoverished countries"

At the same time, several associations of recognized international prestige (Médecins sans Frontières, Oxfam Intermón, Médecins du Monde..) have expressed their indignation at what they regard as a lack of global equity. They warned about the third-dose fever that is recovering in the fortified countries, "while millions of people in low- and middle-income countries are waiting for the first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine."

"We have passed the test of science, but we are suspending ethics," said UN Secretary-General António Guterres in his address to the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

I belong to a privileged group that has received all the vaccination. Faced with this scandalous and offensive imbalance of the world, I feel irritated and ashamed to belong to the human species. And my proposal is to inject the third vaccination, to which we have received two doses, until the vaccination reaches the population of impoverished countries. For justice, for solidarity, for time and, if you like, also for selfishness. If we get involved a little bit, maybe we can stop this absurdity.
