“Input to wars,” claims hundreds of citizens in Pamplona
  • The demonstrators have thrown the deserters of Ukraine and Russia, and have attacked patriarchal militarism in the city. They have insisted on the need to go out into the streets because otherwise, on the excuse of war, further cuts in civil, political and labour rights will be established.

The demonstration departed from the plaza del Castillo and ended in the park of the Insumission, solar of the former prison of Pamplona. Former intractable prisoner Aitor Balbás and member of the anti-militarist movement Argiñe Salanueva have taken the floor there.

They have declared that they refuse to obey those who promote war; to accept the suffering of the victims without protesting; not to “the patriarchy that colonizes our heads and our bodies.” They have demanded that Russia withdraw its occupying forces from Ukraine, respect the minorities on its territory and allow NATO to militarise neighbouring countries. They have called on European governments to accept asylum applications for war deserters and to welcome unconditionally all those arriving fleeing "any world war".

Protect deserters; get out on the street

The convoys of the march have shown their support for the deserters of Ukraine and Russia, on the one hand, and for the movements and citizens fighting war, and on the other, especially the feminist and anti-militarist movement. “We call for a European network to help those who do not undergo the war in Ukraine and, as soon as we can, we announce that we disobey the laws of Spain and Europe to welcome Russian and Ukrainian deserters into our homes.”

They have called on the citizens to take the streets of the town of Biscay. Otherwise, they have warned that “capitalism” will again use war to further curtail civil, political and labour rights.
