- The School of Activists has seen the need to collect the voices of bodies that violate the binary sex rule and bring them to the center of the scientific debate. Mer Gómez, member of the collective “i de Intersex”, writer and researcher of the UPV will speak at a conference organized by the Society of Engineering Without Borders.
The term intersexuality designates a set of hearts that do not fit into the aesthetic definition of male or female bodies established by the binary system.
The School of Activists of the Association of Engineering Without Borders will offer an online conference on June 16 from 18:00 to 20:00. The intersex narrative in the scientific model will be worked on in the talk. Mer Gómez will explain the steps to be taken in the fight against the depathologization of bodies. The talk will be in Spanish.
The School of Activists has argued that the hegemonic scientific system does not exist heteronorma of societies and that there is no binarism. He assures that the prevailing scientific model of binarism is aligned and justified and that binarism does not find a true support in the existing body diversity. He adds that the bodies that do not exist within this binarism are invisible or clinical treatments are applied to them in order to classify them as a useful dichotomy to the main system.
