- For the effort made by a public institution to network the popular heritage of the losers, to allow the voice of the voiceless to be heard, and above all, so that Navarre remains a pioneer in the recovery of historical memory, the Internet Light Award has been received by the search engine Oroibidea, promoted by the Government of Navarre and the Navarre Institute of Memory. The award was presented by César Layana and Josemi Gastón on behalf of the Instituto de la Memoria de Navarra.
LARA has awarded the Oroibidea to the search engine for the following reasons:
"A click and a name. Another click and a document. A treasure for someone who has been searching for a long-lost relative.
The Franco regime wanted to punish, eliminate or simply forget the losers of the war of 36. But he didn't make it.
Navarre has been a pioneer in the recovery of historical memory. The family members who were the first to exhume the shootings, the data of the victims were collected collectively from town to town, and other investigations have been carried out since then.
We now have this information available to us through a one-click search engine. Today’s award-winning online portal brings together thousands of people’s files. But not only that. Through this tool you can also consult oral testimonies, backgrounds, photographs, maps of repression and other materials."
