Argia Internet Prize: communities Euskal Mastodon
  • Communities mastodon.jalgi.eus and mastodon.eus have received the 2023 Internet award. Mastodon is a decentralized social network, without advertising, and we've awarded these militants who defend free software, because they allow them to work in Basque and free throughout the year in their communities, among other things.

mastodon.jalgi.eus Created by Izarkom and created in collaboration mastodon.eus by PuntuEUS, Azkue Fundazioa, Iametza, Talaios and Laborategia.eus. They received the Lorea Arakistain, Beñat Irasuegi, David Martínez, Yaiza Arrizabalaga, Asier Iturralde and Eli Pombo.

ARGIA has awarded the Basque community of Mastodon for:

"Social media has revolutionized the world of communication. Citizens have become communicators, which allows us to know immediately what has happened in any corner of the world with direct actors and witnesses.

The bird is here and there, but the bird has been bought by the world's second richest person, and this year we have seen that the glass cage is getting narrower, as the "transparent" colour bars have become apparent.

Those of us who thought, "And I loved the bird," we've heartfelt gratitude that in the year that the bird has become the forage of the tip of the right, it knew another animal in the zoo of social media, because some Basque activists from free software already had a different habitat since 2018.

This social network is decentralized, without advertising, and there are two communities in Basque that allow us to live all year in Basque. And what is surprising is that between these two communities in Basque of this social network there is no struggle, there is a good environment and they are federated with each other."
