At the press conference, Urkullu referred to a number of factors for the end of the legislature, including the situation of the governability of Spain, doubts about the possibilities of cooperation with Elkarrekin-Podemos, the situation of the committees of self-government and coexistence that exist within Parliament, etc. He has denied that the possibility of an electoral advance in Catalonia has influenced his decision by the Generalitat.

Asked about the Zaldibar accident and in particular by journalists, Urkullu pointed out that there were a number of people who regretted the lack of reaction of lehendakari to this serious crisis, two things: on the one hand, that its style is not to be shown when a natural disaster or an accident at work occurs, and on the other, that since Thursday the government has a crisis table in place to address this problem.
