On the occasion of the assassination in Urbasa, the Estella Feminist Movement of Earth called a rally in the centre of Estella on Wednesday. Matthew Apestegi (7 years) and his father died defeated, and autopsy tests reveal that the vicious violence hypothesis has gained strength.

Thus, hundreds of people meet to denounce the murder and show their solidarity. In the church of San Juan de Estella-Lizarra the funeral of the child was made in the afternoon and has been crowded with people. Subsequently, hundreds of people have taken the Plaza de Coronación de Estella in the concentration called by the Feminist Movement of Estella against Vicaria Violence. Lives without violence now under the slogan.

The Feminist Movement notes that Lizarraldea is “excited”: “When it is increasingly clear that his father killed, we are dealing with a case of vicarious violence.”

The Spanish Government Delegation against Gender Violence is investigating the case as vicarious violence. If this is confirmed at the end of the investigation, the institution has indicated that it would be the second minor who died by his father in 2023 and 50 since 2013.

Patricia Nuñez Pitto, a member of the Estella Feminist Movement, has reported that the murder highlights the shortcomings of the system, according to Berria: “It must be clarified whether that person was able to take over the custody of his children, and if it is concluded that he is not, it must be determined who bears the responsibility.”

Concentrations

In this sense, the Women's March of Euskal Herria has called several mobilizations for the afternoon: At 18:00 on Boulevard de Donostia and at 19:00 on Plaza de la Virgen Blanca de Vitoria. It will be at the Arriaga de Bilbao at 19:30 and at 20:00 hours in front of the City of Pamplona.
