The Basque prisoner Iñaki Bilbao Goikoetxea began the hunger strike early on 9 September in the Puerto III jail and, in addition to the hunger strike, Bilbao refused to leave its cell, so it has no way to go out into the courtyard, no communication with the outside, no visit, no telephone conversation. The prisoner has made no request to improve his living conditions or anything else and has claimed "an independent, socialist, united and Euskaldun Basque Country".

After 43 days of hunger strike, the Pro Amnesty Movement announced that on Wednesday he was taken to the hospital and forced to eat...

On September 29, by court order, he was transferred to the Hospital of Bilbao to analyze his state of health, although he was soon transferred back to Puerto III prison. Since then, nothing has been known about the situation of the prisoner, despite the fact that he has been giving up food for more than seven weeks.

In solidarity with Iñaki Bilbao there have been mobilizations in different locations such as Portugalete, Berriozar, Errenteria, Azkoitia... For the weekend AEM announced three days of solidary fasting and a demonstration in Donostia-San Sebastián.
