The group that has not been vaccinated does not justify the measure
“The new measures that have been adopted at the social level in general have not been the same in the educational world, at least in Hego Euskal Herria,” criticized the ikastolas. In particular, elementary school children refer to the need to wear a mask also in the patio. “We don’t see any sense that when children walk through outer space the use of the mask is imposed, even less when we are gaining more and more spaces where adults don’t have to use face masks. The fact that the only group that has not been vaccinated does not justify the maintenance of this measure, unless in the other areas the use of the mask is mandatory”.
The Federation of Ikastolas has underlined the concern generated by the decision in the emotional aspect: “These children are the only group that forces them to use the mask when they are outdoors; and in addition, that of the school is the only outdoor space that is obligated to use the mask. That is, children between the ages of six and twelve may feel marginalized and, at the same time, may consider the entire school space as the only space in which they have the obligation to use the mask.”
In Ipar Euskal Herria, as in most European countries, children aged 6-12 have not kissed in classrooms, as in the courtyard. It is considered that the trend that responds to the welfare of children is that in Hego Euskal Herria the same path should be followed. For this reason, they have asked the Basque Government and the Government of Navarra to “apply the same criteria as in society and in school to the other groups in the case of elementary school children”.
