In 2003 the baskets were put on sale to help the ikastolas of Eperra and Aloz, this year its 15th edition is celebrated. Organizers have reported that in the 2017 season 1,400 baskets were sold, of which 15,000 euros of net money were obtained for ikastolas.

In an information letter sent to the media and to several Euskaltzales, the promoters of the ikastolas of Zuberoa state that the main objectives of the campaign are to improve the economic situation of the ikastolas of Zuberoa and to publicize the food of that territory. "Year after year, the sale of baskets has been on the increase, a sign that solidarity networks are being developed. At Ikastola, as the number of children increases, expenses are also increased. Under no circumstances does public aid respond to the economic situation of the ikastolas. Alternative sources of money are necessary for ikastolas to continue to perform their function under the best conditions."

In the well-known cardboard boxes throughout the Basque Country, Ikaskoli offers two baskets to choose from: Ahüski at EUR 40 and Irati at EUR 52. In addition, this year’s edition offers the new album by Jean Bordaxar Ildo, Bordaxar’s fourth work: It can be purchased for EUR 10.
