According to the anti-repressive and pro-amnesty organization Tinko, the political prisoner of Berango Ibai Aginaga has begun a hunger strike in the Basque Autonomous Community. Following the face-to-face visit to Basauri prison last Saturday, Aginaga was confined with two other prisoners under the excuse of COVID-19.

Aginaga has begun a hunger strike to denounce the confinement and the conditions of the confinement. In fact, he has denounced that in the cell where they are confined there is no heating and cold is going on. In addition, you can only go out to the patio for 15 minutes a day and the rest of the time you have to spend it locked in the cell.

Tinko has stressed that the management of Martutene, Zaballa and Basauri prisons has become the responsibility of the Basque Government less than two weeks ago and has stressed that they should not confine prisoners when the cumulative incidence rate is below 100 according to the current protocols.
