On Thursday, the Municipal Guard empties the Socialist Housing Block of Pamplona (Navarra) with the help of the workers of the company Eulen. Evictions began around 11:00 hours and evictions took place throughout the morning. It appears that the block has been emptied as a precautionary measure, but under no circumstances have the arguments that have been used for this purpose and the reasons why they have been based on requesting this precautionary measure been reported.
As soon as the Housing Union of the Region of Pamplona reported the eviction, many people went to Jarauta Street to protest the eviction. In addition to the local police, there was a large presence of the Foral Police, which completely closed the facade of the Socialist Housing Block.
The Socialist Housing Union of the Basque Country published last Sunday at noon the new controlled area of workers: it reported the choice of families and people to access the building, to be able to live there, and they had been living there for several days. The building is owned by the municipal company Pamplona Centro Historical-Iruña Biziberritzen (PCH-IB).
Since noon on Sunday, totally illegal practices have taken place by the City Hall and the Police against the Socialist Housing Block: the Municipal Police, with the total control and closure of the entrance to the building, has established a state of siege in the block and for several days has been trapped the neighbors in their homes, and has changed the locks of several houses in the building, among others.
For fear of repression and pressure and threats from the police, several people have had to leave their houses en bloc: on Wednesday one of the families who entered the building had to leave their homes due to the threats suffered.
On Wednesday night the Pamplona Housing Union appeared before the City Hall, with the support of various groups. In a manifesto they denounced the eviction of the Socialist Housing Block.
