At first they thought that EDF was wrong when it renewed the contract and warned that the gas bill would go from 6,000 to 40,000 a year. Unable to cope with the departure, they stop turning on the heating for ten days while trying to obtain a cheaper contract with a supplier intermediary. They propose to ikastola a contract of EUR 21,000.
Solidarity comes from Arrasate
In the Word of Iparralde it was mentioned that in the face of the difficulties of Ametza they started in the ikastola Arizmendi of Arrasate: selling roasted chestnuts and leaves made by the students, they got 5,333 euros to help the ikastola of the capital. Ametza thanked the initiative. With this money, the parents of the ikastola will increase the quota and cut off the hot water, this year they will have enough money to ignite the heating, but it is clear that they cannot continue that way in the medium and long term.
The Basque College owns the building and has been asked for help to change the system: to leave the gas and switch to an electric system, as it is a heat pump.
