The Government Delegation believes that the meeting can have health effects related to the coronavirus and has therefore prohibited, as reported by the LAB union, that the prohibition arguments have put the health effects “not only for the protesters, but also for the people who may have an accidental relationship with them, and it is not certain that there will be no infection among the participants, so that they can then spread them to their relatives, friends and professionals”.
According to the LAB union, the argument does not make sense, as these workers spend the whole day working together in orchards. In addition, they have denounced the attitude of the elderly:"The workers of Huerta de Peralta, in addition, play a fundamental role in this very serious and special situation to guarantee our food with the products of the vegetable gardens. But the company Huerta de Peralta is not prepared to do its part and in times of pandemics and confinements continues its crusade against the workers, imposing sanctions and threatening to dismiss."
The union says that workers are narrowing to go to work, but that the treatment with companies is very different: "Yesterday we learned of the information given to us by the Government of Navarra: no company has received either a proposal or a sanction to paralyse the activity for not having security measures related to Covid-19. It is incredible that there is no material for these measures, either in hospitals or in nursing homes. And it shows that the government is not working to ensure our health."
The trade union concludes that this ban can only be understood in two ways: "Or it is an absolutely unfair, arbitrary and authoritarian measure, or else on which the suspension of all non-essential activities in Navarre should be based".
