The Kristau Eskola network of Gipuzkoa, Araba and Bizkaia and the ELA, Steilas and CCOO unions have reached an agreement to unblock the negotiations that were blocked. Accepting the main demands made, the unions have decided to end the protests that began two years ago and that continued during the summer. In other words, the one-month strike movement has ended, two days after the strike exit.

Measures covered by the Convention include: All workers in schools where classrooms are to be set up in the future will be eligible for jobs from other retiring workers; spread over the four years of the agreement, workers in the sector will have a salary increase of more than 4 points above the CPI; additional hours will be recognised for class training and for non-face-to-face obligations; unexpected substitutions will also be guaranteed from the third day; early retirement will be regulated.

The movement for a new partnership agreement was launched in November 2017. After two years of a 29-day strike, the unions have reached an agreement to end the strike. ELA thanked "the enormous solidarity and generosity" of the workers of the Social Initiative. The Steilas union also: "We have achieved this through their constant struggle (…) The agreement is thanks to them and for them," he added. Kristau Eskola has also been optimistic and contented, thanking "the will and effort of all parties" in this process.
