In three days the citizens have received more than 29,000 signatures to request mass testing
  • Basque researchers have developed a protocol of mass testing of Basque citizenship, and Zalla Bai has launched a collection of signatures in favour of it. Both health workers and the World Health Organization have declared it to be the most effective way to end the pandemic. The Basque Government has announced this Tuesday that it is committed to another test which is still under investigation, which on Wednesday will meet with the promoters and which it is taking into account.

Saturday was made public on the initiative website change.org, Tuesday had already overcome the barrier of 25,000 signatures, and the number continues to rise (in the early afternoon of Wednesday, about 30,000 signatures). In the signature request sheet, the independent municipal platform Zalla Bai recalls that “mass testing is one of the main measures to control this pandemic”, according to experts and health workers. Also, researchers from the UPV/EHU and other institutions have developed a specific protocol to “do it economically, quickly and reliably”. Researchers have called for “resources and tools” to address the coronavirus pandemic, “but also to deal more quickly and effectively with ‘possible crises of the future’.”

Zalla Bai thanked the thousands of neighbors and neighbors who supported the initiative “We believe that this massive support should be understood as a call to the coordination of all the resources we have as a society,” the citizens’ initiative said.

Basque Government: yesterday no, today perhaps

At the daily press conference offered by those responsible for the health area, the Basque Government has launched various messages. The Basque Government Health Advisor, Nekane Murga, has advocated the "Coronatest" test this Tuesday. Coronatest is currently under investigation. The test, developed by researchers from the UPV/EHU and sponsored by Zalla Bai, is cheaper than the previous one and has already been approved by the Ministry of Health. At the press conference this Wednesday morning, the Director of Health Planning, Mikel Sánchez, took the floor. At questions from journalists, he said that the test carried out by the researchers of the UPV/EHU is good news and is being taken into account. In addition, he has assured that he will meet this afternoon with the promoters of this test.
