Ikama calls for a strike to change "top-down" the educational model
  • The Basque Law of Education, which is under discussion, "does not serve" the students, because, according to Ikama, it is "for a few". A strike has been called for on Thursday and has been encouraged to participate in the mobilizations to be held in the four capitals of Hego Euskal Herria. They will claim a feminist, inclusive, Basque and ecological educational model.

With the motto Education tailored to the students, the Ikama student movement has organized a day of strike and mobilization for December 15. They will denounce that the CAPV Education Act does not intend to change the “educational model that benefits the few” and will reclaim the feminist, inclusive, Basque and environmental model.

Ikama has defined five essential pillars of another educational model: feminist, which culminates with gender and sex roles, focusing attention and reformulating spaces to avoid sexual segregation; inclusive, with a free and secular public model; Euskaldun, with language and “popular identity”; ecologist, focused on “critical education” that educates in sustainable life models; tailor-made, adapted to people’s mental needs.

Ikama calls for strike and mobilisation on Thursday in Hego Euskal Herria. They will start at 12:00 in the four capitals: In Donostia-San Sebastian by Boulevard, in Pamplona by Navarrería, in Vitoria-Gasteiz by the White Virgin and in Bilbao by La Caja.
