- The Federation of Ikastolas announced about a month ago the suspension of the festivals in favor of the ikastolas to be held in spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. In principle, Herri Urrats, Araba Euskaraz and Ibilaldia have been delayed without a specific date, but for the first to do so, Herri Urrats, at least one substitute this Sunday, on the date he was assigned: Kanaldude, the local public television, has organised a special programme that will take place live.
Kanaldude announced this in his email newsletter: "Since the health crisis caused by Covid19 does not allow the ikastolas' support party this year on Lake Senpere, we propose to celebrate it from home. Date on Sunday, May 10 at 12:00 live!"
Therefore, the call to the direct Kanaldude is already made.
This Sunday tele-initiative, however, will not officially replace Herri Urrats, the event held this Sunday. The Federation of Ikastolas and SEASKA, for the time being, have not decided not to hold this year. ‘As Herri Urrats is indispensable, Herri Urrats will be held. The association thought that the act of surrender would last until September. At the moment, we have not set the date, but we will communicate it as soon as we know,” said Herri Urrats President Beñat Bidegain when the postponement was made public.
