After last Tuesday’s raid, the citizens left for the protest on Wednesday night. The National Police carried out arrests without a warrant for its alleged connection with the events of the anniversary of the referendum of 1 October 2017. In total, 16 people were arrested between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Around 4,000 people, including personalities, congregated in Girona on Wednesday. The woman, who had taken refuge in the school of letters and tourism of the Public University of Girona after escaping from the police, sought one of the alleged members of the CDRs who participated in the demonstration. Thousands of people built a popular wall on the outskirts of the city, which hampered the Spanish police. They were locked up and prevented from being arrested. Women of Portuguese nationality are still at liberty.
