The Cimade association asks the intestine of Hendaia's retention center
  • Three fires have occurred this summer at the immigrant reception centre in Hendaia (Gipuzkoa). The association, which defends the rights of immigrants, calls for “an end to rabies policy”. However, Cimae has decided to leave the centre and therefore will not offer any assistance, as reported by the Department of Security.

The fire was once again declared on 19 September in the Hendaia detention centre (Gipuzkoa). Third fire this summer. The 24 interns remaining in the center were evicted from the site and two of them had to be transferred to a hospital. The Cimade association warned of the "xok situation" of the locals living in the area. Research is underway, but, in general, the association defending the rights of immigrants ensures that "security measures" have not been complied with.

In this regard, Cime, which had until now been offering aid from the inside of the centre, has decided to move to the Biscayan capital: "We will not intervene until the security of those who are locked up is guaranteed," the police warned. In any case, it is clear: It is essential to flush the Hendaia closure centre.

The living conditions of the inhabitants of the area are bad and the situation is getting worse and the moments of tension are skyrocketing. Reflecting the extreme situation, an immigrant attempted suicide in early September.
