The undervalued, conflicting and under-resourced educators of Haurreskola
  • The Haurreskola educator told me that not only do they not walk above them (because they do not have sufficient resources and the Basque Government does not comply with what was agreed), but they have to face a hard feeling: having to endure their work and hear how they question their work (“they have told us that we do not respect bubble groups; lie!”). They want to stay small and weak to fight for their rights, but the workers of the Haurreskolak Consortium go on strike.

The Educator explained to me that the time reduction in which she works is not being complied with because they cannot leave the children lying, in short, the Administration is being used, because the authorities know that without sufficient resources the educators will do their best to ensure the care and education of the children. Meanwhile, they have had to hear that they are not doing well, for example, do not respect the groups of bubbles, “but we take it without joining those of the room next door from the beginning of the course”.

The Haurreskola Consortium does not comply with the existing agreement, nor with the agreements signed, such as substitutions, and although in the rest of public education groups the doors have been opened to the negotiation of new labour agreements, the negotiation has not been opened in the case of haurreskolas. That is what the trade unions say. They criticize that they do not have special budgets to deal with the changes that COVID-19 has made in management, pedagogy, prevention… and that the working conditions of workers have deteriorated.

“Patience is over”

For all these reasons, the workers in this sector, which is totally feminized, will return to the dynamic of strike, as they are angry, very angry. The next days of strike are 10 and 16 December. In principle, the mobilisations started in October, but have not yet been called to the negotiating table of the PSE-EE. “Patience is over us.”
