As we read in Naiz, the LoupO project has been coordinated by the Autonomous University of Barcelona and in two and a half years have collected over 500 samples of bears and wolves (hair, manure...), up to 70 bears and 8 wolves. Data related to feeding of these animals have also been obtained.
Bears have increased in the Pyrenees and wolves have settled in the Pyrenees and the Eastern Pyrenees, according to the study.
Support for farmers
The project involved training in the field of education, dissemination and development of canine protection plans for farmed livestock, in order to help farmers.
