In a communiqué, he applauded what the Baiona Declaration did ten years ago: "This statement has made a major contribution to the peace process, giving legitimacy and responding to the Aiete roadmap. The objective of the declaration was for the social and political agents, as well as the institutions of the Basque Country, to debate each other and find consensus in the resolution of the conflict".

On October 24, 2014, representatives of almost all political sensitivities of Ipar Euskal Herria signed a document showing their support for the Declaration of Aiete and their commitment to work in favor of the steps this document entails. In the letter submitted ten years ago, the following can be read: "Our desire is to make a positive contribution to the ongoing process, to bring to light the real possibilities of taking action for coexistence and to lay the most solid foundations for a lasting peace throughout the Basque Country."

In his statement, Bake Bidea stresses that a consensus has been reached between elected and political actors of different sensitivities: "They entered into a debate and an exercise that had never been done before, building a political agenda for a lasting peace in the Basque Country."

In addition, the Baiona Declaration highlighted the responsibility of the French State in resolving the conflict in Euskal Herria and warned that a "relationship of real forces" has been created between Basque society and the French Government. It also underlines the involvement of citizens in the document: "The declaration that the political and social majority of Ipar Euskal Herria has endorsed allowed civil society to take its place and be the engine and driver of conflict resolution, inventing new paths," he added. Whether it be the disarmament of ETA, the case of political prisoners or the dialogue table between the French Minister of Justice and the elected witnesses, Bake Bidea tells in his communiqué some examples to translate that idea.
