The Audience of Bizkaia has sentenced the former professor of Gaztelueta College of Opus Dei to eleven years in prison for an alleged offence of continuing sexual abuse. According to the victim's family lawyer, the facts occurred between the 2008-09 and 2009-10 courses when the student was between twelve and thirteen years old.
The Prosecutor ' s Office had requested three years ' imprisonment or an alternative request of 20 months ' imprisonment for the defendant, rather than the current legislation at the time of the facts, for him to be tried under the reform of the Penal Code.
The Private Prosecution had asked the defendant for ten years in prison for an offence of abuse of superiority and confidence, with the possibility of extending it to fourteen years. The defence, for its part, called for the acquittal of the defendant, charged with a crime of murder.
Finally, the Audience of Bizkaia has taken the decision that most closely approximates the requests of the particular accusation.
