Haize Berriak Group Warns of Greater Impact of New Wind Macro-Projects in Navarra
  • They intend to install mills up to 127 metres high in migratory bird passages and protected species. The platform calls for a moratorium on the processing of wind macro-projects, as well as for efficient, equitable and environmentally compatible development of renewable energy.

The Haize Berriak group, which brings together the neighbours affected by the wind projects of the company Sacyr in northern Navarre, has participated in the meeting of the Government of Navarre on the wind projects.

The Haize Berriak Group has announced significant changes to the initial project. The company Sacyr has asked the Department of Industry for administrative authorisation for the installation of two wind farms: Navarra Wind Farm 1 of Steribar and Navarra Wind Farm 2 of influence from Steribar and Erroibar. Each of them would be composed of 10 4.8 MW wind turbines and a depth of 127.5 meters. They are mills of higher power and height than those previously designed, so their influence will also be greater.

In addition, the medium Ahotsa.info reports that there is a third wind farm that has not yet been authorised to connect to the Spanish Electricity Network network and has therefore not requested any prior administrative authorisation from the Department of Industry. The location of this third park, which will have a power of 48 MW and will have an air evacuation line of 220 kV, is unknown.

The Haize Berriak Group has expressed its concern. Although the Environment Department has pointed out that damage to fauna is taken into account, the concentration of parks in the saws can be a major obstacle for migratory birds or protected species.
