- At CAV public centres, some teachers who are on leave have had to continue working because the Department of Education has not covered the replacements during the confinement. The teachers themselves have denounced this.
Today they count the experience of López de Guereñu College in Vitoria-Gasteiz: they have three teachers on leave and in active employment, two of them since the beginning of the confinement, that is, one month. “They have continued to work for the students, because if they left their job, the students would suffer the consequences, or the rest of the teachers would carry out work. The Department of Education of the Basque Government is taking advantage of the good disposition of the workers, because they know that they will not let the students and teachers throw away,” they say from the center.
Since López de Guereñu, they have criticised the fact that the Basque Government’s decision has forced teachers to act illegally.
On 23 April, the Basque Government reactivated the CAV system of teacher substitutions, but teacher substitutions at end-of-cycle levels are a priority.
