Thousands of people have taken the streets of Hego Euskal Herria this Thursday in the mobilizations convened by the Socialist Organization of Women Itaia under the motto Equality of quality living and work conditions for all. Denounce the issue of care “the oppression it causes in the lives of workers” and end with “the commitment to socialist society”. Itaia points out the need for all people and activities to be socially recognized and therefore fight for the socialization of care and equal pay for all. For this, it has considered it necessary to “make care a responsibility of the whole society” and “end the sexual division of labor”.
Remarks
In addition to mobilizations, companies and institutions have pointed out “for doing business under miserable conditions of wage surveillance” or for violating the political rights of working women. For example, Post Cleaners have been unpaid for six months, and in Vitoria (Álava) the Post headquarters has been blocked since the first hour. Other locations have also been marked in solidarity with cleaners.
Recognition for those fighting for care
Itaia pointed out that women who carry out surveillance work are systematically deprived of the possibility of defending their rights and constantly failing to fulfil their political rights. Example of “100% minimum services imposed by employers on strike day”. In short, they have always highlighted “over and above the threats and aggressions of entrepreneurs and bosses” to the women struggling: Post Cleaning Personnel, Senior Residency Staff, Home Help Personnel, Municipal and Foreign Infrastructure Personnel, CAF Cleaning Staff and Dining Room Staff.
Independent organization and call to continue fighting
Itaia insists on the election of “working women by an independent organization that achieves our interests” and on the need to organize “outside the political interests of entrepreneurs and institutions”. To this end, he points out that it is necessary to place the individual struggle on the road to the construction of the Socialist State: “We will continue to fight with total commitment and disinterested in the interests of working women until they build their full emancipation and free socialist society.”
