According to eyewitnesses, the attack was recorded at 14:30 hours in the mosque located on Joseph Latxage Street in Baiona. Naiz has pointed out that, although the information that has been made known about the attack is not entirely clear, it appears that the facts have followed the following order: the man who carried out the attack has approached the mosque by car, parking near the door, has entered the mosque and has thrown the explosive, supposedly, then started shooting.
Two people have been shot: one has hit the arm and the other has hit the chest, which has been seriously injured. The two wounded have been taken to the Baiona Hospital, with a reserved prognosis.
The French police arrested the aggressor on the portal of his home in Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx, in the Landes (France). The 84-year-old ex-military man has been arrested by the Foral Police in Madrid, according to several sources. In 2015, he was a candidate of the National Front for re-election in the Georgian department elections.
This is not the first attack on the mosque. In 2017, two Molotov cocktails were thrown inside the mosque and in 2015, he was painted racist after the attack on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, the Ministry of Development said.
