Allegations of sexual assault have increased by 16.7 per cent in Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa in the first eleven months of this year. The Basque Women's Institute Emakunde published this Thursday and, compared to the first eleven months of last year, reports of male violence have increased by 8%. Allegations of sexual assault have increased considerably: 683 in total.
A total of 3,554 women, 5% more than in 2023, have filed complaints of male assault by their partners or ex-partners, compared with 3,383 in 2014. In addition, women have reported 975 male assaults committed by relatives or close relatives, 13% more than in the same period last year. It should be noted that in 2024 at least six women were murdered in Euskal Herria by male violence, according to Interior reports.
