Not to the city of Mordaza! With the motto, on February 1, 2020, the Platform Piztu Donostia was concentrated in front of the Municipal Police of San Sebastian, in the concentration that took place at the headquarters of the Municipal Police of Donostia-San Sebastián. we sent you a document with the name of seven points per record. Along the same lines, as the chief political officer of the Municipal Police of Donostia-San Sebastián, we also sent you a copy of this document. The truth is that, as usual, we receive no response from anyone.
In that concentration we held a year ago before the Municipal Police of Donostia we denounce the repressive and in some cases even political action that the Municipal Police is increasingly taking on, since the Mordaza Law that has been denounced by the Basque Parliament has been applied time and again against social, trade union and political agents and militants. That's why we campaigned for the city of Mozal, no! Title.
"Is it normal for the Municipal Police to violently arrest the child who was arrested by the mobility agents because he was wearing headphones on his bicycle and denounces that he has ended up being beaten at the police station?"
We said “yes” to this campaign by twenty social, trade union and political actors, and we expressed it literally, after emphasizing seven points in our defence: "Turn Donostia on, the Moorish city NO! All the people and agents who join the initiative call on the Municipal Police to respect our rights.”
Unfortunately, a year later, the Rights Observatory of the Piztu Donostia Platform has to denounce a serious fact, as the attitude and technique used to arrest a child some ten days ago in the Easo Plaza de Amara do not correspond in any way to the basic social, civil and political rights that the Municipal Police must guarantee in its activity.
The detention of the Municipal Police at Easo Plaza in Amara, where it is filmed, reminds us of the detention of 16 July 2020 in Minnesota (EE.UU. by George Floyd. In Easo Square, a person with three policemen on the ground and screaming that she could not breathe… The minor reported that she was beaten again and again with the wives on. Is it normal for the Municipal Police to violently arrest the child who was arrested by the mobility agents by wearing headphones on the bicycle and denouncing that she has ended up being beaten in the police station? Is no one going to report this police abuse?
We hereby submit four requests to Mayor Eneko Goia:
1. We urge the Mayor to take the necessary steps to ensure that the Municipal Police acts in compliance with the social, civil and political rights owed to any citizen or citizen.
2.- Open an informative file on the events that took place in Plaza Easo and make public the results of the investigation to determine if the actions of the three agents have been correct.
3.- In the name of transparency, the Mayor makes public the protocols of action of the Municipal Police, so that in the future the citizens know clearly where the limitations that the Municipal Police must respect in their actions are located.
4.- The main function of the Municipal Police is to help citizens and not to suppress them. The events of Easo Square are intimidating the citizens before the Municipal Police and those who are scared cannot help.
In order to strengthen this request of the Rights Observatory, the Piztu Donostia Platform has organized a half-hour concentration on the Boulevard, under the balcony of the City Hall, so that neighbors and collectives can report what happened.
Eneko Goia will listen to us!
