The strike started at 05:30 this Thursday at the Zalain Transformados company of the Condesa Group, located in Lesaka, in favour of "a dignified agreement". All the unions that make up the works council have joined the strike and expect broad support from the workers, as in the assembly 96% joined. If there are no further changes, unemployment will continue until 22 July.

Since January 2020, negotiations at the Zalain plant have been under way, as the agreement between 2017 and 2019 has been exhausted, with the aim of agreeing on the new. But last year, because of the pandemic, they had to put the negotiations aside. According to the ELA representative at the plant, Karmelo Conde, the chairman of the works council and the LAB representative, Mikel Agirre, this year have resumed the negotiations. According to the LAB, "after 20 meetings, in some points we have achieved closeness, but in others they do not rule out new modalities that they want to incorporate". ELA, for its part, has denounced that "the Zalain negotiations always take a long time" and wanted to make it clear that what they are asking for is not absurd and that they are asking for the same conditions as other companies in the group.
