Workers from the residences of Álava, called by ELA and LAB, on Wednesday followed a strike at the blockade of the negotiating table. The protest took place in Vitoria-Gasteiz at 12:00 hours, from the Plaza Nueva to the Diputación. The workers have imposed minimum services of 100% on the workers and have denounced it to the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. “They want to silence us. "There will be few of us who can leave, but we will continue to fight for our rights," they said.

Alavese residences are striving to achieve the first sectoral agreement in Álava. The mobilizations began three years ago and in September they managed to set up the negotiating table for community residences and housing. However, trade unions have denounced that employers "continue to block negotiation", with "miserable working conditions and betting on precariousness". Once the agreement is concluded, the employer expects the monthly wage to be 1,220 euros in 2026, without guaranteeing the increase according to the CPI, and a real day of 1,742 hours.

The trade unions have said that they are not prepared to accept it, as it is something that harms both workers and residents. They call for a 50% increase in all categories, guaranteeing the CPI (by 2022) and the purchasing power of all workers in the sector, and a decrease of 200 hours by 2022. “Today we want to send a message to the employer and all nursing homes. As long as they do not want to sit down to negotiate to dignify the sector, the workers will continue on the streets and we will continue to fight,” they said.
