The Civil Guard intercepted yesterday, 30 March, the lifeless body of a man on the Bidasoa River in the Irun area. It is investigated whether this is the missing person on 12 March. In particular, the body was located near the site of its disappearance and, as reported in a statement, the body was in an advanced phase of decomposition.

Three migrants tried to cross the Bidasoa River on 12 March. Two of them managed to reach Biriatou, but the third disappeared. "It is not acceptable that in 2022 there was a report of the death of another human being," the Irun Reception Network regretted that day. "Safe roads don't kill people, they do kill people, they do kill racist controls."

At least seven people died in 2021 trying to cross the administrative border separating Irun and Hendaia.
